Check Out The Florida "Cop Who Loves Cats" Who Has Rescued Over 60 Stray Cats
Gretchen Byrne, a cop in Boca Raton, Florida, not only serves and protects her human community - but the feline community as well! During her patrols, she picks up stray kittens and cats who have been abandoned, and gives them refuge at the police station.
Byrne has been rescuing abandoned cats from the streets of Boca Raton for about 2 years now and has saved the lives of 63 cats and kittens to date! Her Instagram, @bocaratona, helps her spread the word and find homes for these incredibly lucky kitties.
If she finds an abandoned cat while on patrol, she takes them back to the station. There, they hang out and play with coworkers until the end of her shift when she takes them home and fosters them until she can adopt them out.
Some of the adorable kittens she's found homes for:
She tells MSN News, "I will get three breaks: A 40-minute lunch break and two 10-minute breaks. Instead of going for pizza with my colleagues I use that time to run to the station and feed them. It all comes out of my paycheck at the end of the day but I don't have kids so it is probably still cheaper than having kids.”
Kudos to this cat-loving cop who ON TOP of saving people lives on the daily also saves KITTY lives on the regular!
