Rainbow Bridge Tribute: Metsy, the "Furry Sister"
Today we're honoring the life of one of our fur friends, Metsy, who recently crossed the Rainbow Bridge. Here's a look back at her life and some fun stories about her from her mom Carissa.
Name: Metsy - We named her to be a good luck mascot for the Mets and get them to win a world series, but that never happened in her life time.
Birthday: June 11th, 2006
Birthplace: NY with two other siblings
Favorite toy: Bunny
Favorite Holiday: Christmas
Movie Buff: Metsy's favorite movie was Disney's Bolt! Seriously - she would come in the room and actually watch it anytime it was on. When I had mono right before college, I had it recorded, and she would come out from wherever she was and sit with me anytime I would turn it on!
Traveling Kitty: She lived in three states: New York, Vermont, and Washington. She even got to go on a plane ride!
Adventure Cat: She loved going outside, but we stopped letting her out when we moved back to NY from VT and still kept her in when we moved to WA.
Favorite Vice: She used to love Doritos (my mom's fault while I was at college!), but when we moved out of my parents house she wasn’t around my mom anymore, so she got weaned off of them...
Kid-Friendly: She was seriously the best pet I could have asked for with [my daughter] Caeris. She would rest her head on my belly when I was pregnant and when we had her she was so gentle with her. When Caeris was a baby they used to nap at the same time. When she was barely 2, Caeris covered her in gold fish and Metsy just sat there. Caeris called her "her furry sister" and would sing random songs to her and squish her face.
Night-Time Rituals: Metsy's favorite thing to do was come up to Caeris' room for bed time. She would always sit with us when we read her book and would stay with us through bed time songs. It was so cute and almost like clockwork. She is definitely missed during bed time.
Helen Keller may have said it best:
What we have once enjoyed we can never lose;
All that we love deeply,
becomes a part of us.
