Purrli.com "The Internet's Cat," Lets You Generate Your Very Own Cat Purr

Purrli.com is a website where you can customize your very own cat purr using sliders that adjust from "Sleepy" to "Happy," "Relaxed" to "Overjoyed," and more.

The website's creator, Stéphane Pigeon, is a consultant specializing in audio processing. His original sound generator, myNoise, is a free online noise generator but didn't have the capacity to create a cat purr. Apparently, Stéphane was spending so much time answering inquiries about why there wasn't a cat purr sound that he decided it would take less time to just go ahead and make one! And hence, Purrli.com was born.

The website itself is easy to use, with 6 sliders you can adjust to alter the sound of the purr:

  • Sleepy to Happy
  • Steady to Lively
  • Purr Out to Purr In
  • Relaxed to Overjoyed
  • Close to Distant
  • Purrfect to Meow-y

But you'll want to note that even the website warns you to "be careful when adjusting the last slider, if you don't want to be nagged in the middle of your work!"

Of course, I tried it out myself and it is very realistic sounding - and even Thomas was fooled and confused by the cat meows coming from the computer!

Thomas was so intrigued he stepped on a key that did something I still have to figure out how to reverse!

In addition to being a very "Internet-y" thing, Stéphane found that the purr generator has helped many people with issues like anxiety, stress control, and helping with sleep problems. He also learned that Purrli helped cats themselves! Cat owners reached out to say that the generator helped calm down their super-hyperactive cat, or foster parents emailed to say that the purring helped the kittens relax and feel comfortable eating and drinking in a new environment.

So what are you waiting for? Give it a try ASAP. Take it from this productive gal - it is also a great background noise when you need to concentrate and don't want distracting music!
