Today's Interviews With Cats features one of our favorite Instagram stars - @sophie_the_model! If you're not following her, go do so immediately! Go on .... we'll wait. She is often in costume, and her witty captions are pretty much everything. Read on for her hilarious Interview below!
Q: Tell us about yourself! Name, nickname, age, city, siblings, etc.
A: Wassuuuup?! My name is Sophie and I just celebrated my 6th birthday a few weeks ago on June 1st, but my mom kind of ditched me on my birthday because she "claimed" to be busy doing other things. Whatever mom!! We'll see how you feel when I give you a LITTERPAW in your mouth while you're asleep! Anyway, I live in NJ with my mom and dad, my cat sisters Madeline and Polly, and a disgusting, smelly and obnoxious thing called a D....O....G. I've been trying to figure out how to get rid of that thing, but so far nothing has worked. One day though........ one dayyyyyyy.......
Q: Is there a special story behind your name?
A: So my mom is kind of old and remembers something called the 80's. Supposedly in the 80's, there was a Bette Midler special on TV and she was talking about her daughter "Soph" or Sophie. Mom says she was kinda digging that name, and always wanted to have a daughter named Sophie after that, so years go by and yada yada yada, in walks me and BINGO!! The name fit!!! Halle-stinkin-luiah she liked that name because I could have ended up an Edna or Bertha. Yep.... Bertha the model. Could you imagine?!
Q: What’s the most exciting thing that’s ever happened to you?
A: One time when I was about a year old, mom went on vacation and I snuck out of the house and didn't go home for 6 days until mom got home! The sitter was going crazy and the whole neighborhood was looking for me, it was soooo cool!! They didn't want to tell mom that I was missing until she was almost home and she was so upset when she got home, that I couldn't mess with her, so I ran right to her as soon as she called for me. I felt bad for her cuz she was really ugly crying! I don't think I'd do that ever again, but it was so exciting being a survivalist for 6 days!
Q: Tell us about your best day ever:
A: For some ridiculous reason, my mom didn't have any intentions of keeping me when she brought me into her house. She says that she was only fostering me for a while while she tried to find me a good home. I, on the other hand, had other intentions. I went to work quickly on befriending the two cats she already had and working my magic on her too. I turned on my extra cute charm and my sparkling sense of humor. When that wasn't working, I ordered some sort of magic spell crapola from Amazon, dropped it in mom's energy drink one day and VOILA!!! She fell in love with me and vowed that she couldnt live without me! I made sure that I gave the magic spell crapola a 4 star rating. I would have given it 5 stars, but it had a weird smell that made me chuck a hairball.
Q: What’s your favorite treat?
A: I don't eat much other than my normal food. A model has to keep her figure so I try not to bulk up on snacks and treats. I do allow myself some cheat days though, so when I do, I usually like to snack on Temptations treats, or, in the lucky event that mom has seen our furiends from England, I'll indulge in a few Dreamies treats. YUMMM YUMMMM!! Oh, and COCKTAAAAAAILS!!
Q: Tell us about a time you got in trouble with your meowmy (or cat dad):
A: I really don't get in trouble. I may be sassy, but I'm really an angel!
Q: What’s your favorite holiday and why?
A: You guessed it!! My favorite holiday is National Lobster Day!! Mom lets me lick the butter!
Also, I know it's not a holiday, but shark week is pretty darn cool! Need i say more?!
Q: What do you want to be when you grow up?
A: It's probably pretty obvious that I want to be a super model when I grow up. I mean, I do alot of modeling already, but I want to be a big time supermodel soon and have my face plastered across every magazine cover from here to Timbuktu!!! I want to see my face drive by on the side of a greyhound bus!!! I want to see my face 50 feet tall in the middle of times square!!!! I want to see my face on a Wheaties box!! Yea...... that's livin'!!
Q: What’s your favorite toy and why?
A: I'd have to say that my favorite toy is the Cat Dancer. It reminds me of chasing after a moth and they are pretty much my favorite bug to eat of all time. Theyre like little powdered donuts... mmmmmmmmmm...... I also like to watch mom wave it around like an idiot. One time she poked herself in the eye with it and had to go to the eye doctor, so THAT was fun to watch!! Pfffffft!
Q: Do you have any special talents you’d like to share?
A: My best talent is making silly faces!! Yep, I feel that making a great derp face is like therapy. Hey, I should start charging for this!!
Q: What do you do that annoys your parents?
A: I don't like ticking my mom off because she can get a little ugly when she's peaved. My dad, on the other hand, can't stand it when I stay juuuuuusssssst out of his reach. He gets so irritated because he thinks that I don't like him to touch me, but I really just do it to mess with him and make his face turn red. I dont know why I think it's fun, but I do!!!
Q: What’s your favorite color?
A: Lately my favorite color has been turquoise. Something about it just makes me sing. It brightens my eyes and makes my fur look extra luscious. Plus it's the color of the water that surrounds the private island that I'm planning on buying with dad's credit card once I figure out how to pry it out of his wallet.
Q: Do you have a favorite pastime?
A: I don't have a whole lot of free time between my modeling career and sleeping 17 hours a day, but when I am able to take some time off and have a little "me time," I like to crochet with nature. I find that eating grass and sticks and turning them into dazzling works of art in the litterbox the next day is very satisfying. I think that mom must be selling my works of art because she's always taking them away.
Q: Anything else you’d like to share?
A: Well, on a serious note I want to encourage more people to take a chance on a black cat. Black cats are the most under adopted and most euthanized animals in the US because of stupid stereotypes and misconceptions. The truth us that we are the most loving, amazing, funny and talented animals that you'll ever meet and my mom says that she has had nothing but good luck in her life since she decided to take a chance on a little black dumpster baby....... that's me!!
