Interviews With Cats: Ridley the Salami-Loving Tuxedo Kitty
Today's Interviews With Cats brings us back to the East Coast - to speak with Ridley the X-Fire (pronounced Cross-Fire) Tuxedo Cat - who lives in the great state of Massachusetts! Ridley enjoys eating salami, decorating for Christmas, and duh - catnip. Catch up with his adventures on Instagram here and read on for more about this lovable tuxie!
Q: Tell us about yourself! Name, nickname, age, city, siblings, etc.
A: Howdy! I’m Ridley. You can call me Rid or Boo or Kitten like…. "What do you need my Kit-ten?" I will be 9 years old on May 8th! God knows why, but I was surrendered to the FMAS Animal Shelter in Manchester, NH when I was 7. I was there longer than I should have, but I was scared and sat at the back of the cage not letting anyone touch me, day in, day out. Long story short - the Momz saw me on PetFinder.com, read my story, and scooped me up sight unseen. I nipped fingers and fought to go into the carrier. Geesh ... what a dummy I was! I had no idea what lay instore for me. In two words: Kitty paradise. I live in Concord, MA now. You know ... Minute Men, The Old North Bridge, Louisa May Alcott House. Think HISTORY.
Q: Is there a special story behind your name?
A: You bet! There is a bike manufacturer in Belgium called Ridley bicycles. The Momz is a competitive age group triathlete so instead of buying spensive shoes, she buy bikes and wheels and little gadgets for cycling - along with all things my heart desires! She owned a Ridley X-fire (pronounced Cross-Fire) at the time of my adoption so in a sense, she stole it from a bike frame.
Q: What’s the most exciting thing that’s ever happened to you?
A: My feature on COI? No wait!! I know!!! When I dropped trow in my carrier on the way home from the shelter and peed all over the Momz car seats -- AND -- I managed to wiggle myself in behind a basement wall (wood) and the original rock foundation wall and someone had to come take the wall apart to get me out. Oh.. and I could get out ON MY OWN, I just wouldn’t. Newly adopteds do this stuff y'know.
Q: Tell us about your best day ever:
A: I have A LOT of these. I’m known for cherishing Caturdays on IG. Having my hooman around all day constitutes for a best day. Add in some brushing, some DaBird catching and a nap on a heated blanket with the Momz and this is the best!
Q: What’s your favorite treat?
A: Genoa salami
Q: Tell us about a time you got in trouble with your meowmy (or cat dad):
A: See: The most exciting thing that’s happened to me (bad kitty!)
Q: What’s your favorite holiday and why?
A: Oh this is an EASY one. I’m a three time winner of the Needs More Tacky Contest don’tcha know. It’s serious business when it comes time to decorate my tacky Christmas house. Well, I don’t actually decorate it - I supervise the design work and make sure it’s of epic proportions (think shock and awe) to try and continue my winning streak. It’s getting tougher now that I have a target on my back!
Q: What do you want to be when you grow up?
A: Grow up? FORGETABOUTIT! In order to work the system (the Momz) to its full potential, one must never grow up. You forfeit many things like getting away with needing your wet noms put BACK into a perfect circle 3-4 times during meal time or it won’t get eaten.
Q: What’s your favorite toy and why?
A: It varies between my popcorn toy from Polydactylcats because I LOVE the nip in it, and my DaBird in which I like to haul around stick dragging behind, while I meow VERY loudly through the feather in my mouth. It’s really like a bird!
Q: Do you have any special talents you’d like to share?
A: When the Momz gets up after petting me, I like to extend a leg (claws out) and whack her as she goes by.
Q: What do you do that annoys your parents?
A: Are you kidding me? I’m Purrrrfect!
Q: What’s your favorite color?
A: Black and white silly!
Q: Do you have a best friend(s)? If so, who?
A: I have A LOT of friends but my super duper close buddies are: Porks, Beaner, TT stachio, those sexy girls in ruffled tuxes. MEEEEOW!
I have a MAD crush on Katniss Thunder Paw from @talktothepaw. Have you ever seen her panty pouf???
And then there’s my Boston tunatinni drinkin’ peeps, Bennie, Jackster and Huges from @tuxedotrio!
Q: Do you have a favorite pastime?
A: Pondering the current whacky presidential candidacy from my Kitty Cot.
Q: Anything else you’d like to share?
A: Just a big THANK YOU, That Cat Blog!!
