Interviews With Cats: Porter The Police Cat

Cool-Dude.jpg

This week's Interview is too adorable for words ... but we're going to try anyway - cute, cute, and cute! Oh wait. Not very good. Maybe Porter can explain himself more succinctly than we can - read on and follow him on Instagram @porterthepolicecat to keep up with his law-abiding adventures!

First day with mom

Q: Tell us about yourself! Name, nickname, age, city, siblings, etc.

A: My name is Porter Ranch, or more formally known as Porter The Police Cat. My cat dad typically calls me P. Ranch. I was born May 3rd, 2016 in Los Angeles, CA. At seven weeks old, I was rescued from a life behind bars by the greatest cat dad ever — a police officer originally from the Bay Area.

Life Behind Bars

Q: Is there a special story behind your name?

A: My meowmy and cat dad were driving me home from the animal shelter, trying to decide on names, when they passed the Porter Ranch freeway exit. My cat dad likes names based on locations, and my humom likes the musician Porter Robinson so after a few days of brainstorming, they came full circle, and it was finally decided I’d be Porter Ranch.

First Day with dad

A: The most exciting thing I like to do is go on adventures! I love going on ride-alongs, going to petco to pick out a new toy, hiking and my daily walkies!

Searching for toys

A: The best day ever was when I came home with my amazing cat dad and meowmy. I was just a baby and scared to come to a new place, but soon realized I was in for a great life! I even have my own playroom!

Q: What’s your favorite treat?

A: I love my meowmy’s home-grown cat grass!

Catwalk

Q: Tell us about a time you got in trouble with your meowmy (or cat dad):

A: My humom and catdad definitely don’t like when I stick my paws into the planter boxes and track dirt all over the place, but they love me too much to be mad!

Q: What’s your favorite holiday and why?

A: Seeing as I am only 4 months old, I have yet to experience most of the holidays. I love getting new toys though, and I hear this Santa guy is pretty great! I am definitely looking forward to my first Christmas!

Petco

Q: What do you want to be when you grow up?

A: I hope to one day be a Federal Feline Agent! I sometimes help dad write DUI reports, but it’s boooooring! I want to move onto bigger and better things!

Q: What’s your favorite toy and why?

A: I love my catnip banana! I think it’s so awesome! It’s big enough to wrestle with, and tastes great!

Q: Do you have any special talents you’d like to share?

A: I am a top-of-the-line police cat! Patrollin’ the streets and eatin’ treats!

In Uniform

Q: What do you do that annoys your parents?

A: I like to attack the macbook charging cord, because I’m pretty sure it’s actually a snake. But my pawrents get annoyed having to constantly re-attach it.

Q: What’s your favorite color?

A: Blue!

Q: Do you have a favorite pastime?

A: My favorite pastime would definitely have to be sleeping. But I also occasionally enjoy staring out windows and people watching! I also enjoy dressing up and looking dapper!

Q: Anything else you’d like to share?

A: Yes! My cat dad has a very strong bond to me. Even though I've only been here a few months, he's shown me that unconditional love is something that comes easily for your species. I knock down items, run around getting into trouble, and constantly make a mess of the house, yet my hooman continues to show me nothing but patience and generosity. He provides me with a roof over my head, a warm bed at night and even scoops my poops! I share my story in hopes of showing that police officers are just as hooman as the rest of us! They have families and possibly even cats they come home to and love every day!
