Interviews With Cats: Meow York Kitties Neyland and Knox!
We can hardly believe it, but it's Thursday again which means we are interviewing cats ... in our Interviews With Cats series! This week we get to know "Meow York Kitties" - our black and white furr-iends from the big island of Manhattan - Neyland and Knox! These little kitties with big 'tudes enjoy casual television appearances on the Today Show, tongue-sticking-outing, and celebrating Chrismukkah - read on to find out more!
Q: Tell us about yourself! Name, nickname, age, city, siblings, etc.
Neyland: My name is Neyland (pronounced KNEE-LEND), but my full legal name is General Neyland. My 9 year old stealth self sometimes goes by NeeNoo, Nee Nee, and Bubba.
Knox: My name is Knox. ‘Sup ladies. I’m often called Foxy Knoxy… no explanation needed.
Q: Is there a special story behind your names?
Neyland: I’m named after Neyland Stadium at the University of Tennessee. I’m ok with it.
Knox: I’m named after Knox county in Knoxville, Tennessee. I guess my peasants aka parents like it there. Whatevs. I don’t listen to them when they call my name anyways.
Q: What’s the most exciting thing that’s ever happened to you?
Neyland: Being rescued from the side of the road when I was a little baby!
Knox: I got to be on the Today Show! I was dressed up as a Pink Unicorn, carrying a princess. They kept calling me a girl because I was wearing pink. I’m ok with it, though. Real mean wear pink, and I wore it well.
Q: Tell us about your best day ever:
Neyland: Same thing as the most exciting thing. It was a pretty great day.
Knox: Every day is the best day! I do what I want.
Q: What’s your favorite treat?
Neyland: Pumpkin! Oh my goodness, I love pumpkin.
Knox: Carbs. I want all the carbs.
Q: Tell us about a time you got in trouble with your meowmy (or cat dad):
Neyland: I peed in my meowmy’s luggage. I just…. I just didn’t want her to leave.
Knox: I enjoy knocking things over. I mean, if you’re going to leave a water cup on the table, that’s your fault. Not mine. Don’t blame me.
Q: What’s your favorite holiday and why?
Neyland: Holidays mean I have to get dressed up. No thanks. I do enjoy presents during Chrismukkah.
Knox: I love Chrismukkah! I love all the food, toys, treats, outfits, music…. Everything!
Q: What’s your favorite toy and why?
Neyland: Strings! Any kind of string. I especially like ribbons. The texture feels so nice in my mouth.
Knox: Hair ties. I steal them. I need them.
Q: Do you have any special talents you’d like to share?
Neyland: I’m pretty good at sticking my tongue out. (usually at Knox when he’s not looking)
Knox: I can sit like a human. I’ve perfected it. It’s damn near flawless.
Q: What do you do that annoys your parents?
Neyland: I lick my meowmy’s nose and face in the middle of the night if I’m hungry. I won’t stop until she feeds me.
Knox: Me? Annoying? NEVER.
Q:Do you have a best friend(s)? If so, who?
Neyland: Nah, I’m good. My roomie (Knox) is enough to deal with.
Knox: I have a lover. Her name is Lambchop.
Q: Anything else you’d like to share?
Neyland: I’m pretty much toothless. I had 9 teeth extracted last year due to tooth decay. Meowmy has learned that we should get our teeth cleaned (or what’s left) on a regular basis!
Knox: I have a fake hip. No seriously. When I was 6 months old (and a cutie I might add), my hip ball-and-socket had deteriorated. So, I had to have surgery to remove the remaining bone. I’m good now. Too bad I didn’t get a pimp walk from it.
