Interviews With Cats: My Cat George
Today's Interviews With Cats is with a special fluff named George, whose pawrents we had the pleasure of meeting at Paw It Forward NYC! You may know George as the snaggly-toothed rescue kitty - and if you're smart, you're following him on Instagram. George lives with his fur-siblings and is simply living the dream every day. Check out his interview MEOW!
Q: Tell us about yourself! Name, nickname, age, city, siblings, etc.
A: Oh, hai, I’m George but you can call me The Most Interesting Cat In The World. I am around 2 ½ years old but no one knows for sure because I was a homeless kitten. I live in Scranton, PA with my hooman, cat dad and 4 fur siblings. Thumbs, Mr. Belvedere, Queen Latifah and Blue. We are all rescue cats and are considered less adoptable. I think my hooman has a screw loose, she likes the weird ones.
Q: Is there a special story behind your name?
A: Well, as I mentioned, I was a homeless kitten. I was also attacked by an animal (I like it think it was something cool like a werewolf). I was rescued by an awesome couple who nursed me back to health. I then spent time in a few rescues and eventually ended up at Griffin Pond Animal Shelter where my hooman found me in August 2015. Somewhere along the way, I was named George. Hooman tried to changed it to Falkor (she loves The Neverending Story) but dude, I’m totally George. Me and Clooney are BFF’s.
Q: What’s the most exciting thing that’s ever happened to you?
A: Oh boy! Well, aside from finding my forever home and hooman, meeting my fur siblings, winning a Meowbox photo contest, being featured on Cats of Instagram, having several articles written about me, being a Chewy.com influencer and now becoming an ambassador for Cute4kind.org; I’m most excited about that time cat dad fell asleep on the couch and I found a box of chicken nuggets on the coffee table.
Q: Tell us about your best day ever:
A: My best day ever you ask? I would have to say every single day! I have a forever home with clean water and fresh food. I have the best fur siblings a cat could ask for. Plus, my hooman and cat dad, top-notch!
Q: What’s your favorite treat?
A: Tuuuuuuuunnnnaaaaaaaaaaa!!!! I also love salmon and chicken and Hamburger Helper. Hooman is always talking about health and keeps trying to make me like these raw freeze dried things, but seriously hooman, just gimme tuna.
Q: Tell us about a time you got in trouble with your meowmy (or cat dad):
A: Who, me? I get away with everything. Once, I helped hooman wash all the dishes in the kitchen sink. When she finished I got in the sink to inspect things and decided it was a great place to pee. I’ve been doing it ever since. She doesn’t like it but she doesn’t stop me either, hahahahaha!
Q: What’s your favorite holiday and why?
A: Obviously, I am super handsome and I have to fight off all the spayed ladies (and fella’s, I’m irresistible). I love to love and I love to make people smile. So, if we add up ladies, fella’s, love, tuna, my handsome face; I’m pretty sure that equals Valentine’s Day.
Q: What do you want to be when you grow up?
A: First, I thought I wanted to be a hairdresser since I am quite excellent at it. Then I realized I want to be anything that lets me help other kitties in need. I am so lucky, not only was I saved from an attack but I also found the best possible forever home. Every kitty, especially us less adoptable kitties, deserve to find our forever homes. So, anyone out there with ideas on how I can do this, hit me up on my banana phone.
Q: What’s your favorite toy and why?
A: All the things my hooman won’t let me play with, of course. I love the plastic part of tags. I love the pieces of thread I find around the sewing machine. I love cellophane, ooooooh gawd do I love cellophane. It’s so fun to chew on!!!!
Q: Do you have any special talents you’d like to share?
A: I am an excellent hair dresser! Just ask my hooman, I do her grooming every day. I also have amazing shadow chasing skills. I don’t think my hooman knows she has shadows chasing her around the house but I get them, every single time.
Q: What do you do that annoys your parents?
A: Me? Nothing! I’m purrfect. Okay, maybe they aren’t fans of my scientific experiments. See, there is something wrong with the gravity in my house so I keep knocking things off of other things to see what happens. Nothing bounces, it must be a conspiracy!
Q: What’s your favorite color?
A: I’d have to say blue, that’s the color of tuna cans. Or green, the color of my hoomans eyes. Or maybe both, because they’re the ones I can scientifically see the best.
Q: Do you have a best friend(s)? If so, who?
A: Obviously, my hooman is my super BFF (sorry Clooney). My fur siblings are the best. Every single one of us get along! We play, we wrestle, we snuggle and we gang up on hooman during feeding time. So, this shout out goes to you guys: Thumbs, you my G. Mr. Belvedere, you keep my wrestling moves fresh. Queen Latifah, I admire your skill in catching the red dot. Lastly, Blue, my man, your hiding skills are impeccable.
Q: Do you have a favorite pastime?
A: Hooman groomin is up there. She really needs it, every day. I also love chasing shadows, knocking things over, peeing in the kitchen sink and begging for food.
Q: Anything else you’d like to share?
A: I’d like to say thank you to That Cat Blog and to all the other publications, people, cats, rescue workers and social media users. Your work in helping to spread awareness about less adoptable pets like me is making a huge difference in adoptions across the world! Let’s continue to keep up the great work hoomans! Let’s continue to share laughter, love and light across the world with one special kitty at a time.
