Say a big MEOW to brother and sister duo Felix and Dora, currently residing in Australia. They are our guests of honor in this week's "Interviews With Cats"! Both born without eyelids, they had to have corrective surgery while in the shelter - but all's well that ends well, as they were adopted into their forever home soon after. Read their interview below!

Q: Tell us about yourself! Name, nickname, age, city, siblings, etc.

A: We are Felix & Dora! We are 15 months old, brother and sister living in sunny Sydney, Australia! We tend to get called Feel & Dor, or cheeky!

WE ARE AWESOME!!!!! Can’t you tell?

WE ARE AWESOME!!!!! Can’t you tell?

Q: Is there a special story behind your name?

A: Our names were given to us by the lovely rescuers at the RSPCA NSW shelter when we were found wandering the side of the road at just 5 weeks old. Dora is named after Dora the Explorer, because she needs to be the first to investigate everything!

Q: What’s the most exciting thing that’s ever happened to you?

A: The most exciting thing that has ever happened to us is our corrective eye surgery. We were born without eyelids, so couldn’t blink, or help our poor dry eyes. We even had to sleep with our eyes open! The surgery is called a lip-to-lid transposition, which takes parts of our lips and rotates them into our defect. It took 8 hours, two hours for each eye, and was pretty scary, but thanks to the smart people at the Eye Clinic For Animals we can now happily blink. We also have special smiles because of the missing skin!

I’m still a knockout though!

Q: Tell us about your best day ever:

A: Our best day ever was finding our forever home! We had been under the care of the RSPCA for over a year - we had to wait until six months old to have the surgery, and then waited patiently for our home! Around Christmas last year, our meowmy and cat dad FINALLY found us, and we couldn’t be happier. We got to have our own toys for the first time in our life, have our own special beds and hidey holes. It was pretty amazing to have so many places to explore, and with our new eyelids we could see everything clearly! We finally felt safe and at home.

Q: What’s your favorite treat?

A: We are carb crazy! If Mum or Dad leaves bread, pasta, rice, even potatoes out we sniff them out in 0.2 seconds! We then try and drag loaves of bread around the house to hide them from Mum and Dad! They normally catch us before we get to chow down though! We also enjoy liver treats and raw chicken!

Q: Tell us about a time you got in trouble with your meowmy (or cat dad):

A: We’re pretty cheeky, so seem to get in a bit of trouble often! At the moment, we love to hide under the bed and spring out at Meowmy when she walks past- she never expects it! We also like to attack her feet when she wears long dresses! Our favourite game with Dad is dragging his shoes by the laces and hiding them under the couch!

She can’t stay mad at us for too long, though!

Q; What’s your favorite holiday and why?

A: Our favourite holiday so far is Christmas! It was our first holiday in our furrever home, and the tree is too tempting not to attack! We are also super great at ripping… we mean opening presents for the hoomans!

Who, me? Just waiting for Christmas ….

Q: What do you want to be when you grow up?

A: When we grow up we’d love to be advocates for adoption. There are so many special little animals like us out there that just need to find the right person to care for them. We like to dream that one day there will be a home for every rescue animal like us.

Q: What’s your favorite toy and why?

A: Felix’s favourite toy is a soft toy ladybug- it has a crinkle tummy and is stuffed with cat nip. Its face kind of freaks Mum out though, especially when she wakes up with it next to her on the pillow! Dora loves her hand knitted mice her Nan made her! Mum has to hide them sometimes when she starts taking theme everywhere with her (including into the water bowl!) Feathers are also a favourite- we make the hoomans get them whenever they go outside.

Q: Do you have any special talents you’d like to share?

A: Felix’s special talent is being able to open doors! He will escape like Houdini at any time. Dora’s special talent is turning on taps- she is obsessed with water.

Q: What do you do that annoys your parents?

A: We annoy our parents the most when we splash all the water out of our bowl- they will fill it up, and within 5 minutes we splash it all out and all over the kitchen floor and walls!! It’s super fun, especially then running over to them and rubbing our wet faces/paws/bodies all over them!

All that splashing is hard work, y’know!

Q: What’s your favorite color?

A: Felix loves reds, yellows and anything bright. Dora loves blue and whites (like her favourite feathers!)

Q: Do you have a best friend(s)? If so, who?

A: We are each other’s best friends- we have been together forever, and helped support each other through everything. We wouldn’t be where we are today without each other.

Q: Do you have a favorite pastime?

A: Our home backs onto the train line, so we love to watch the trains go past. We run from wherever we are in the house to the windows to watch. We also like chasing the birds from window to window, and hiding from each other.
