Interviews With Cats: Adorable Luna Livin' It Up In Hong Kong
In today's Interviews With Cats we've got Loopy Luna reporting from Hong Kong! She enjoys long bananaphone calls with her boyfriend, sailing the couch in her cat canoe, eating Vegemite, and REALLY likes playing fetch with her sparkly purple mouseys. Check out our interview for her adorable antics and "How-Can-You-Stay-Mad-At-This" face!
Q: Tell us about yourself! Name, nickname, age, city, siblings, etc.
A: Meow from Hong Kong! Luna (aka Loopy, Lulu-Pops, Loopylu, Loony or Puma) repawting for That Cat Blog.Com duty. Occasionally The Pawrents (two expat-Australians) also refer to me as Go Away or Get Down.
There’s a lot of confusion around here. I’m an only-cat and The Crazy Cat Lady thinks I’m around three years old. Nobody knows meow’s exact age – I was rescued when I was around 11 months old from a shanty village in Hong Kong…hungry and at risk of being killed by street dogs and/or enormous pythons! I’m still terrified to this day, of anything that makes a hissing sound.
Q: Is there a special story behind your name?
A: I like to tell cats I meet at pawties that I was named after some bad-ass Roman Goddess. This is the ‘nip talking. Truth be told, when The Crazy Cat Lady (aka The Pawrent) rescued me, she was up to the letter ‘L’ for naming her rescues at the time. I suppose I should be grateful I’m not called Latrine.
Q: What’s the most exciting thing that’s ever happened to you?
A: Like, seriously…being featured on That Cat Blog.Com…I’m so famous right meow.
Q: Tell us about your best day ever:
A: Most days are pretty pawesome around here (napping, eating, snacking, napping, more napping, no snakes) but April 16, 2014 is all-time. That’s the day I was rescued off the streets by The Crazy Cat Lady. She was only meant to foster me until a permanent home was found, but whoa, people, have you checked meowt? I’m totally pawesome. Also, the apartment she shared with the cat-dad had air conditioning. Hong Kong summers do nothing for meow fur so it was pretty much a done deal.
Q: What’s your favorite treat?
A: Chicken. Chicken and liver. Tuna. Salmon. Whateverrrrrr. I mean, who isn’t obsessed with treats? You feelz me? You probably can…especially after I’ve binged on a whole bag of freeze-dried chicken nom noms. Then there’s this stuff called Vegemite. It’s an Australian thing. It looks like something that got stuck on your shoe but it tastes so much better. Obsession is a strong word, but yeah, I’m obsessed.
Q: Tell us about a time you got in trouble with your meowmy:
A: Oh. That one time I snuck into Crazy Cat Lady’s box of favourite scarves and made biscuits, like an entire bakery full of them. Whatever. So ungrateful. They looked so much better with all those holes and tears in them anyway. Build a bridge lady!
Q: What’s your favorite holiday and why?
A: Duh. Halloween. T-R-E-A-T-S.
Q: What do you want to be when you grow up?
A: An Ornithologist. I’m good with birds.
Q: What’s your favorite toy and why?
A: Say hello to my little Sparkly Purple Mousie. Or Mousies. I have so meowny of them I’ve lost count. They’re crinkly and sparkly and they have a little bell inside. Did I mention they’re sparkly? When The Crazy Cat Lady found out they weren’t being made anymore, she bought every single last one from the pet store so I didn’t run out of them. I did mention she was crazy right?
Q: Do you have any special talents you’d like to share?
A: I can sit on command, though obviously waving a treat in the air like you just don’t care never hurt anypawdy. I also enjoy a game of fetch with…you guessed it…Sparkly Purple Mousie. Ermagherd. He’s so sparkly. And purple.
Q: What do you do that annoys your parents?
A: For cats’ sake, I’ve no idea what’s so annoying about bringing Sparkly Purple Mousie in to play at 3am? It’s a big bed people…move the fluff over and stop whining. Also, I talk a lot. The song of my people is unappreciated. Tough crowd.
Q: What’s your favorite color?
A: Purple. And I like sparkles. I mean, who doesn’t?
Q: Do you have a best friend? If so, who?
A: My BFF is Archie - @approvedbyarchie. He lives in NYC with his mom who’s also Australian. Weird right? We’re practically twins, except he’s ginger (minor detail). We call each other on our iBananas all the time. Archie was meow Valentine this year. I think we might be in love.
Q: Do you have a favorite pastime?
A: Hanging out in my Cat Canoe; it was a Christmas gift from Archie and his mom. I also like watching bird videos on my iPad (research), yoga, rolling in catnip, popping wheelies and showing off my jazz paws.
Q: Anything else you’d like to share?
A: Fur sure. Rescue cats are AMEOWZING. Pawlease #adoptdontshop and support your local shelters and rescues, wherever in the world you may be. If you’re not in a position to take on the responsibility of owning a pet, then consider being a volunteer or helping out in some other capacity…there are so many ways you can make a difference in the lives of animals every day. Crazy Cat Lady’s favourite quote, “No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.” – Aesop. Words to live by. Do something kind today; you CAN make the world a better place. Peace out pawsies!
