Cat cafes are here to stay people! And the newest one in St. Petersburg, Russia, is called "Cats Republic." It will feature cats from the famous Hermitage Museum and is home to about 20 cats. Read on for details and pics!

Cats Republic is a new Russian cat cafe in St. Petersburg - the largest in Europe - that will open in association with the well known Hermitage Museum. The Hermitage Museum is famous for housing over 60 stray cats whose job is to catch mice on the museum grounds.

The Hermitage Cats roam the museum and is an attraction in itself - it is thought the Hermitage Cats have been present in the museum since the 18th century. The museum helps approximately 700 cats find forever homes each year. There are so many cats at the museum that they even hold an annual "Day Of The Hermitage Cat" for potential adopters to come in and meet the cats.

The Cats Republic cafe was opened for the overflow of cats and those kitties who have "retired" from their duties as professional museum mousers. The cafe was designed to look like the city of St. Petersburg and features an exercise wheel (the cat in the wheel is named "Lieutenant Furry Boots," which is a fantastic name for a cat):
